Warehouse Operative - Hall and Pickles

Key Daily Tasks:

Operate 5-ton overhead gantry cranes.
Safe loading and unloading of steel from incoming / outgoing trailers.
Safe storage and retrieval of steel from various stock locations and saws.
Conduct and document pre-use equipment checks prior to using any piece of machinery.
Drive mobile plant such as forklifts, side-trackers, side loaders or Combi lifts where trained to do so, to enable the safe storage / retrieval of material.
Drive road-based vehicles for loading and transportation purposes around site when trained.
Undertake stock checks as required.

Have a basic working knowledge of weighbridge operations to accommodate vehicles entering, and leaving site, outside regular office hours.
Ensure paperwork is accurately updated, for cancelled, adjusted, or re- allocated orders.
Help implement forward planning for accommodation of large volume, bulk stock deliveries.
Good working knowledge of priority customers and contracts in the event of “no room on vehicle scenario” or other unplanned events.
Good working knowledge of all products to enable accurate load checking prior to dispatch.

Maintain a consistent approach by ensuring housekeeping is carried out daily throughout all areas of your designated working bay.
Ensure quality checks are completed in all instances as per training.
Follow all safe systems of work as per training and issue of risk assessments / safe working procedures and work to the high level of safety standards expected by Hall and Pickles.
Ensure personal protection equipment (PPE) compliance when on site.
Labelling of products to meet the required quality and company standards.

Requirements:

Have experience working within a heavy-duty warehouse environment (metals / steel background).
Have a good level of maths and literacy.
Demonstrate the ability to work accurately.
Work to necessary Health & Safety Regulations.
Be a strong communicator and, be able to work well with others in a team.
Be willing to participate in training and development.
Take pride in doing a good job and adhere to company policies and procedures.
